Closed-loop means the motor checks its own work. A conventional open-loop stepper assumes every command was executed. This motor has an optical encoder built into its rear housing that reports the shaft’s true position back to the drive electronics continuously. If the mechanism meets sudden resistance — a tight bearing, a loaded mechanism, a rapid direction change — the motor corrects its position on the spot instead of silently falling behind. You get the holding behavior of a stepper with the position reliability of a servo.
